Sweet Store - Interior

December 2012 - Digital Painting

This is part of a series of images I am illustrating for a story written by a friend.

This is the interior shot of the Sweet Store. The shopping experience here is a mix of eye level browsing and speciality ordering. Perishables, such as cakes, chocolates and cookies, are stored in glass cabinets on the floor, while the walls contain glassed compartments filled with all sorts of hard candies and sweets.

For the harder to reach levels, the sweets would be vacuumed pumped to the middle where the owner would take orders.

Originally the shelves were going to be a sloping gentle spiral upwards to mimic the fair floss swirl exterior, but an extension of the idea of sweetness brought on concept of a bee hive filled with honey. The hexagonal shelves still follow a spiralling curve upwards, but is difficult to appreciate in this fish eye view of the interior.
